White Lineage - Inquire
Gila Monsters (pronounced Hee'luh)
are very unique and fascinating lizards
starting with the fact that they are one of
only two venomous lizard species in the
world! They are indigenous to the
South-western USA and Mexico and have venom
comparable to that of the Western Diamond
Back Rattlesnake. Gilas don't inject
venom through hollow fangs like most
venomous reptiles, they chew it into the
bite wound through special channeled teeth
near the back of their lower jaw. A
Gila bite is said to be extremely painful
and is not something to be taken lightly,
though probably not life threatening.
Envenomation will cause extreme burning
sensations, swelling and localized necrosis.
That being said, we will not consider
selling these lizards to anyone under the
age of 18 and that can prove the
responsibility and experience necessary to
handle these creatures safely and
appropriately.
We are working with several unrelated
lineages of Reticulated Gilas, as well as a
line of White and Black Gilas. The
story of the White Gila will follow as time
and more information becomes available,
though it is believed to be an inheritable
trait at this point in time.

N/A
Beaded Lizards are the only other
species of venomous lizards in the world,
next to Gila Monsters. They have a
more elongated look and have proportionately
longer tails. Beadeds are typically
black and yellow, though can have varying
degrees of white and similar tones.
Captive care is pretty much the same as a
Gila, though Beadeds will attain total
length much larger than their pink and
orange cousins having an average size of
36". Therefore, they will obviously
require larger caging and will also utilize
branches and an arboreal playground if given
the opportunity.
Again due to their greater size, the
potential damage from a bite is also more
severe than that of a Gila Monster.
The same rules of sale outlined in the Gila
Monster section will apply.
We are
working with several animals representing a
nice variety of colour and pattern variance.
