  August 1, 2008.

We've been in our new facility for over two years now and running out of space was already a concern.  Last November I started some major renovations that have turned into some sort of ongoing and ever evolving project.  Though the worst of everything is done, I still have a few odds and ends to finish before I'll be completely satisfied.  Included in the renovations is a climate controlled Gila room, and individual Boa and Python Rooms, obviously tailored to the specific climate and seasonal needs of each.  New caging was also on the "need to buy" list and we've started adding and replacing cages as well.  Once things progress a little further, I will start uploading facility pictures onto the website for those interested in seeing our set up.

With renovations going a little later than planned during the breeding season, it did effect my ability to cycle various species in the way I would normally, or some even at all.  With that being said, what has reproduced so far I am very pleased with, and I'm also looking forward with what is still expected.  This "accident" of not cycling everything properly has actually provided either a break or another year's growth for our breeding stock, thus, leaving the 2008/2009 season to look very promising.  Several long awaited breeding projects come into maturity this year, and it should make for a very exciting 2009 baby season!

I've been testing a new thermostat for several months now as well as everything else that's been happening around here.  With close friends of mine having dangerous failures with their Helix Controls (which until that point was still a favourite of mine even though I'd discontinued my distributorship), and my need for a more powerful thermostat for a couple of projects, I started to search for an affordable thermostat that would suit my needs.  I found Johnson Controls A419 series industrial thermostats.  I will refrain from making this paragraph a sales pitch (spec's and a sales pitch can be found in the price list once I get it together ;), but the A419 is such a powerful, well built piece of equipment.  In addition to which, it's versatile (plenty of tuning settings, including heating or cooling modes) and affordable!  I've also developed a couple of different options for secondary temperature control (i.e. Night Time Drop) in both manual and automatic/timed applications.  Keep an eye on the price list for more details, or if you wish to inquire immediately, please feel free to call or email.  I'd be happy to share my personal test results and applications as well.

For those of you that were on my Facebook account, you may have noticed I disappeared ;)  Curiosity drew me in, and frustration drove me out!  I guess it's just not my style,......  If you want to know anything about what's going on with me, you'll just have to email or pick up the phone!

Thank you for visiting our website, and I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and a successful 2008 season!
